Musician Level - Clay Garrett
As a soloist, Clay Garrett has won First Prize at the Leonard Falcone International Tuba Competition and has been named a finalist or semi-finalist for several other competitions including the International Tuba and Euphonium Conference Competition, the Lieksa Brass Week Competition, the International Markneukirchen Competition, and the prestigious Concert Artist Guild’s Victor Elmaleh Competition in New York City. Other notable solo appearances include performances at the United States Army Band Tuba-Euphonium Workshop in Washington, D.C., and at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention in San Antonio, Texas. Originally from Tyler, Texas, Clay continues to perform with orchestras and bands throughout the state, as well as parts of Louisiana. He is also an active chamber musician and is a founding member of Bishop Arts Brass, based in Dallas. Clay is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Texas at Austin and currently teaches at Temple College.
Clay will be joining the Mountain Light Music Festival this year as our resident conductor and tuba performer.
