Joey Tkach is a senior trumpet performance major at Baylor University, studying with Wiff Rudd, Mark Schubert, and jazz studies with Alex Parker.. Prior to Baylor, Joey attended the Interlochen Arts Camp, where he played principal trumpet in the World Youth Symphony Orchestra, was named second prize winner in the Interlochen Concerto Competition and was awarded Interlochen’s prestigious Maddy Summer Artist Award. At Baylor, he has won first prize in both ensemble divisions of the National Trumpet Competition, as well as second prize in the undergraduate solo division. Joey made his Carnegie Hall debut as a winner of both the solo and chamber divisions of the 2018 Semper Pro Musica Competition. He has been a semi-finalist in the International Ima Hogg Concerto Competition and was one of three finalists in the International Trumpet Guild’s Orchestral Excerpts Competition. He was named the trumpet winner of the Yamaha Young Performing Artists competition and the first prize winner of the Ictus International Trumpet Competition. He also recently traveled to Rome as an invited participant in the International Girolamo Fantini Trumpet Competition. Joey has also been a participant at Chosen Vale, which is an International Trumpet Workshop geared towards the growth of young artists. An avid composer, Joey’s music has been performed across the country. He currently teaches privately in Waco ISD and performs with the Sol Brass Quintet and periodically with the Waco Symphony Orchestra.

Based at the Mountain Light Lodge, this week long festival of chamber music seeks to inspire and engage audiences in Pagosa Springs CO. Students will discover their true musical identity and find purpose in their creative pursuits while working alongside world class faculty. "
